Danida Miriam Toomey, age 71 of Springfield, Illinois, passed away on February 16, 2023.

A devout Catholic mother and grandmother, she devoted her life to the Lord and her heart to her family. What blossomed as a beautiful life of learning, teaching, caring, and exploring, eventually bloomed into the delicate but deteriorating condition of mental illness.

Like a plant in garden, she shared her beauty with those who admired her. She flowered not like a yellow rose with soft petals glistening in the sun, but rather with lessons in empathy, kindness, manners, inclusion, and humility. The longer she thrived, the more her family grew around her. While she remained rooted in her community, she spread her seeds far and wide because she knew this was the greatest chance for prosperity. Since she is no longer able to sustain life and grow, she can perpetually rest knowing she provided what she knew was needed to ensure a lasting life for her family.

There is so much more that should be said, but in the end, what she did was make our world brighter. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and hilarious sense of humor.

She is survived by, sister, Toni (Ron), children, Emilie, Elisabeth and Connor (Shiloah) and grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle), Kayleigh, Ian, Mason, Alex and Hunter.

She is remembered for her generous hospitality, quick wit, adventurous spirit and ability to throw a party at a moment's notice.
