David A.
Harvey
d. Jul 1, 2026
Girard
David A. Harvey, 67 of Girard, IL, joined our Lord and Savior on July 1, 2026 surrounded by family. Dave was a graduate of Lincolnwood High School and grew up in Farmersville, IL.
From day one, Dave overcame the odds against debilitating medical issues. Doctor after doctor said he wouldn't make it past a certain age, or he would be confined to a wheelchair. Year after year, he pushed through even becoming an EMT for the Farmersville/Waggoner area.
Dave married Becky Armes in his early 20s but tragically lost her to illness.
In 1984, Dave found love again and married Ruth Prante from Litchfield. He had one son with Ruth, Kyle Harvey.
After leaving the medical profession, Dave worked at a variety of manufacturing positions building critical parts for global companies, but his passion was never in his work.
His passion was his family. So many weekends were spent fixing roofs, repairing patios, painting, repairing bathrooms, and fixing cars for friends and family with them at his side. He loved a good truck, especially Dodge Trucks. He shared a love of 80 sports cars like the Toyota MR2 with his son, Kyle. When he wasn't working on things with family, Dave shared many a meal at cookouts with his mom or his Uncle Jim.
Dave loved his grandsons fiercely. Despite his illness and limited mobility, Dave dragged himself to every possible soccer game, basketball game, band concert, and piano recital with the same gritty determination he had his whole life.
Later in life, he stopped working and took care of his mother, Carolyn. He cared for her so she could stay in her home until her passing in 2013.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn Nimmo and Gerald Nimmo as well as his brother Ronald. His first wife, Becky Armes, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his son, Kyle and his wife, Emily; grandsons, Clayton and Chase; sister, Cindy Pope (Kent); brother, Greg Nimmo (Dee); cousin, Rena Motika and several other cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnieces and a grandnephew.
David is buried at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond with Family.
A Celebration of Life is planned at the KC Hall in Farmersville, IL from 2pm-5pm on August 15th. This event is an open house. A eulogy will be given at 3pm. Please come and share a story about Dave.
Memorial Donations can be given to the Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation. David suffered from Arnold Chiari Malformation of the Brain and this foundation funds critical medical research.
