David Meszaros, 73, of Springfield, transitioned to heaven on Friday, September 10, 2021.

Dave, who was born and raised in Chicago, was a Vietnam Era veteran, serving in the United States Army. He earned his bachelor's degree in Teaching German and was a small business owner. Dave loved the Lord and served Him well. He was a dedicated father and loving husband and care taker to his wife of 24 years, Jamie Scott Meszaros. He will be remembered and honored for his varied and extensive knowledge, endless supply of corny jokes, and his love and dedication to his family.

Dave was preceded in death by his brother as well as his infant son, Luke James, in 2000. His wife, Jamie, met him in heaven just two weeks after his passing.

Dave is survived by his son, Mark Meszaros; two grandchildren; brother, Richard and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

My father was always there for me, at every turn, no matter what. Where some men shy away from fatherhood due to a lack of responsibility, faithfulness, compassion and sense of duty. He was the most loyal, loving, caring, and reliable man I had in my life. Every time I ever failed or fell short, he was there to help me up, forgive me of my shortcomings and give me a shoulder to lean on. He inspired me to pursue knowledge, wisdom and understanding. He always emphasized the importance of honesty, integrity and diligence. Even in his elder years, until his very last day he retained a spirit of youthfulness and playfulness which made him a joy to be around. Even at times when we didn't see eye to eye, he never held a grudge and taught me the importance of forgiveness and understanding.

Dad, now that you have reunited with our family which has already passed on, I await the day you welcome me home with open arms. You live on through me and our family, forever. I love you, Pops.
