SPRINGFIELD – Dewey Clinton Lay, Jr. passed away at Springfield Memorial Hospital on September 1, 2023.

Dewey "Clint" was born in Springfield on September 20, 1961, to Dewey Clinton Lay, Sr. and Marjorie Ann (Orme) Lay. He was preceded in death by his sister, Chrystal Lynn Lay; father, Dewey Lay, Sr.; maternal grandparents, George Orme and Pauline (Newberry) Orme; and paternal grandparents, Virgil Lay and Bessie (Luttrell) Lay.

He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Lay; brother, George Lay; sister, Dawn Lewis; and half-sisters, Sherry Lay and Kristen Marion. He is also survived by his partner, Debra Flynn; son, Robert Nicholas Flynn; and various nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Elm Street Christian Church, 3020 Elm St. in Springfield, with Pastor Justin Everson officiating. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
