Obituary

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Edward Dillon Scobell, Jr., 63, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1956, to Edward and Elaine (Schmidt) Scobell, Sr.  He married Deborah Dyer on June 11, 2011.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Frank and beloved niece, Jeri.

Ed graduated from Witt High School and Bailey Technical School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany.  He had previously been employed by AC Humko and MacMurray College in Jacksonville. Through the years Ed held many interesting jobs, from being a farmer, mechanic, bridge layer, truck driver, exterminator, even a repo man. Ed was a "Jack of all trades". Ed loved working outdoors, doing lawn care, gardening and just being in the sun.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved his cats and dogs.  He loved hanging out with his friends at Lahey's.  His family and friends were his life.  Ed was with Debbie, the love of his life, for over 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; children, Nolan (Jamie) Dyer and Jennifer (Jason) Baumgart; 4 grandchildren, Izzabella Dyer, Jailan Dyer, Ryan Dyer and Jacob Hill; 1 great-grandchild, Makenna Dyer; brother, Robert Scobell; sisters, Cynthia Hawn, Ruth Scobell and Jane Page; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
