Michael Bartosh
Aug 31, 1974 — Dec 9, 2022
Springfield
Edwin Michael "Mike" Bartosh of Springfield, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022.
Mike was born in Aurora, Illinois on August 31, 1974 to David and Lana Bartosh.
Mike moved to Springfield at a young age and was raised in foster homes and group homes. He lived at Hope School for a short time when they had a home for boys.
Mike overcame great obstacles in his life, he was a hard worker and took pride in making everything look nice and clean, especially his home and his cars. Mike worked at Quality Auto for over 15 years. He loved being around cars and he enjoyed participating in the Route 66 car show and usually kept his show car in the garage, only getting it out for the car show. Mike had quite a few other hobbies as well. He liked to pick up things at the side of the road or at garage sales and take them home and fix them with his son. He recently got a fish tank and liked to go to the pet store and talk to them to make sure he was doing everything correctly. He and his son, Michael, got a big magnet and would go magnet fishing at Lake Springfield or different ponds around Springfield. Mike had a rescue cat, Clarabell.
Mike's happiest day was the day his son, Michael ,was born. He loved spending time with him, and he was his greatest pride and joy.
As a young man, Mike started attending South Side Christian Church and was involved with the Sunday School class. Many lasting friendships were formed there. Mike and Mary Jo had a nice wedding at the church with help from some of the ladies there.
Mike is survived by his son, Michael; ex-wife, Mary Jo; brother, Wesley Bartosh; fiancé, Kelly Barnes; and special friends from work who were like family to him, Mike and Jimmy. Also surviving is Mike's unofficial adopted mom, Sherrie Broughton. It made Mike so happy to always have Sherrie to depend on and to be a loving mom to him and grandma figure to his son, Michael.
Services will be held Monday, December 19 th 3:00 at South Side Christian Church, 2600 S MacArthur with Pastors Brooks Wilson and Brandon Moore officiating. Memorials may be made for Michael's education.
