Erik Robert Anderson of Springfield, IL, born May 24, 1973 (Los Angeles, CA) passed away on June 1, 2026.

Erik graduated from Lanphier High School in 1991 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served our country for four years. After his military career, he was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier.

He lived a life marked by his love for family, his country, his passion for collecting, and the friendships he formed throughout the years. He was particularly known for his enthusiasm for sports cards and memorabilia, a hobby that brought him great enjoyment and connected him with many people over the course of his life.

Above all, Erik was a father. He cherished his sons and took pride in watching them grow into adulthood. He will be remembered for the conversations he shared, the stories he told, and the lasting memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

Erik is survived by his two sons, Braden Anderson of Springfield, Illinois, and Justin Ros of Chatham, Illinois; his mother, Margaret "Peggy" Herlikofer Anderson Gaffigan of Springfield, Illinois; and his six sisters: Dawn Anderson of Rochester, Illinois; Lauren Ross of St. Louis, Missouri; Dawna Hull of Rochester, Illinois; Margaret Urban of St. Johns, Florida; Tara Anderson of Seattle, Washington; and Susan Newcome of Nashville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father and two older brothers, all named Don Anderson.

Erik's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be held at Camp Butler Cemetery, June 26, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
