Gary Wayne Ramsey, 70, of Springfield, formerly of Petersburg, passed away Friday June 26, 2026, at 10:05 pm at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Gary was a very loving person; the love he showed to his family was extraordinary. He loved gardening, and going fishing with family and friends. He absolutely loved the outdoors. He would spend all day and half the night doing things outside. He loved working on cars and fixing riding lawnmowers along with any other lawn equipment. Wrestling was his all-time favorite thing to watch. Every Monday night you knew where he would be right there watching his wrestling. He always loved our family gatherings. Getting to see family and friends was one of his absolute favorite things. He was a very hard working and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He always went above and beyond for those that he loved.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Ramsey and Ethel (Tungate) Ramsey; his daughter, Terry Ramsey Miller; his sisters, Darlene Bloodworth, Patricia Sparks, and Joyce Patton; and his brothers, Edgar, William, James and Charles Ramsey.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sherry Ramsey of Springfield; his daughter, Violet (husband, Chuck) Bailey of Springfield; his grandchildren, Destiny and Charles Bailey of Springfield, Heather Ramsey of Pana, Jennifer Shreve of Lincoln, Nathan Shreve of Bloomington and Elijah Shreve of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Olivia Minder, Abel and Ozzlyn Shreve, Gavin Armstrong and Kingston Caldwell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly.
