James E. Houser, Jr., 67, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Thursday, July 25, 2024, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.

James, also fondly known as Jimmy, was a proud family man. Jimmy, a jack of all trades, worked hard for many years as a construction worker, bus driver, warehouse worker and many other jobs to support his family. Jimmy loved his children and when he was promoted to Grandpa they became his entire world.

Jimmy enjoyed many hobbies from fishing, woodworking, glass etching, and turning wrenches on a classic car or two. Country cruises on a beautiful evening were some of his favorite things to do. Jimmy's biggest passion was collecting antiques. His antique collection was one of his biggest pride and joys in life.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his mother and father, Edward and Patricia Brooks.

He is survived by his brother, Mike Brooks; sister, Pam Ward; wife, Donna Houser; son, Josh Houser (first marriage); daughter, Kristina Houser (Andrew Cady); son, Kristopher Houser (wife, Bre Anne); grandchildren, Adriannas, Nicolas, Leah, Leigha, and Lily; many nieces and one nephew.

There will not be any funeral services. At a future date there will be a Celebration of Life honoring Jimmy.
