SPRINGFIELD – Jay Michael Scott, 46, died August 13, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 11, 1977, in Springfield to Neil and Linda (Cargnino) Scott.  Preceding him in death are his mother, Linda Scott; and grandparents, A.J. and Jessie Cargnino and Sherman and Elizabeth Scott.

Survivors include one son, Cameron Evig of Denver, Colorado; father, Neil Scott (Irina) of Ft Myers, Florida; sister, Jennifer Schleyhahn (Jason) of Bath, Illinois; brother, Justin Scott (Candy Wells) of Springfield; stepsister, Darya Ginger (Ashton Meyer) of Ft Myers, Florida; 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Jay worked as a plumber in Denver and later in Springfield until his retirement. He enjoyed playing on his drums, his dog, Rupert, and was well-loved by friends and family.

A private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
