Johanna "Sis" Mary Toomey, age 93, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away February 22, 2023.

She was the daughter of Dr. Thomas Noxon and Johanna Kenkel Toomey. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Daniel K. Toomey and Thomas N. Toomey Jr. (wife, Jacqueline A. Toomey); nephews, Dr. Thomas N. Toomey III and Mark Brian Toomey; and niece, Danida M. Toomey.

She is survived by nieces Toni Levassuer, Kitsie Moore and Stacie Turner and their families.

A devout Catholic and a life-long member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, graduating from both Blessed Sacrament and Ursuline Academy. She devoted her life to the Lord and her heart to her family.

Sis enjoyed raising and showing her champion Samoyed dogs.

Through her love of sewing and history she enjoyed volunteering at Lincoln's New Salem. She participated in quilting clubs creating many beautiful quilts.

Her life of service included volunteering as a Eucharistic minister at the hospitals.

Jo worked for Mutual of Omaha and Burlington Coat Factory.

Visitation: 11:30-12:00 p.m. Monday, March13, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Church.

Funeral Mass: to follow at 12:00p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating.

Private burial will follow at Cavalry Cemetery.
