Obituary

Margaret Ann "Peg" McAllister of Springfield, Illinois passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 4, 2025.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all she met and who reveled in the making and keeping of acquaintances, old and new.  To all who knew her, Margaret exuded warmth, honesty, and generosity.

As the third of ten children in an Illinois farm family, Margaret quickly learned the value of efficiency and thriftiness which she parlayed into a loving, comfortable, and organized home for her husband and three children.  In addition to maintaining a household, Margaret excelled as employee and assistant manager for the Carlinville grain elevator.  Her attention to detail and lifetime experience in Illinois farming made her an invaluable asset to the company.  In her later years she was a patient and loving caregiver for her husband as he suffered from dementia.

Margaret's enthusiasm for life and joy in her family and friends was equaled by her Christian faith.  She was a willing and enthusiastic servant of Christian teachings through her faithful attendance and voluntary service at the Carlinville Federated Church.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Elton "Bill" McAllister, in 2016.  She is survived by her sons, Stephen Owen McAllister of Belleville, Illinois married to Alicia Ruth McAllister, and Bradley James McAllister of Springfield, Illinois married to Leah Loscher, and her daughter, Elaine Mary Anderson of Girard, Illinois.  She has seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Margaret was born to Howard Balthus Kuppler and Mary Louise Kuppler, and has four surviving siblings, Virginia Mary Magnuson of Muskego, Wisconsin, Phyllis May Schlim of Santa Fe, Tennessee, Joyce Jean Kaufman of Somonauk, Illinois, and John Russell Kuppler of Sandwich, Illinois.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor
