Obituary

Marilyn Jean Nash, 86, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at The Villas East in Sherman, Illinois. She was born on December 3, 1938, to Almond Ernest Walkup and Clara Mae Bell (Sexton) Walkup.

Marilyn was married to Ernest Richard Nash, who preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard Eugene Nash; her parents; and her sisters, Stella Thomas and Lavena Roach.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Rose Marie Madigan, Michael Nash, Tammy Musgrove, and Lisa Nash; and a sister Jeanette Landis. Marilyn was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. And survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn enjoyed a fulfilling career with District 186 until her retirement. Outside of work, she found joy in music and sewing and had a special love for Christmas. Her beautiful, infectious smile, loving personality, and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by a church service at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield, Illinois 62711. A luncheon in her honor will follow at the TRN Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests plants or flowers that can be planted and enjoyed for years to come.

Marilyn's warmth and spirit will be deeply missed. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
