SPRINGFIELD, IL - Thomas J. Tomlin, Jr., 67, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at his home.
He was born November 30, 1951, in Springfield to Thomas J. Tomlin, Sr. and Cecilia Ann (Smith) Tomlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Thomas was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a coal miner for Freeman United Coal Mining Company for nearly 20 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). He was a member of Real Life Church. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed motorcycles, vintage cars, fishing, firearms and watching movies, especially westerns.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy (husband, Jason) Keran of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Kaden, Kelton and Kinley Keran of Springfield; two brothers, Robert (wife, Cindy) Tomlin of Springfield and Mark (wife, Suzie) Tomlin of Buffalo; two sisters, Vernice Warner of Springfield and Candace (husband John, Sr) Bogden of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL. A celebration of life reception will be held at Real Life Church, 2450 Taylor Road, Springfield, IL immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to pay final expenses.
